This is the first post on what I'm setting up as an occasional blog.
The plan is to write here when I have something I want to put down in a bit more detail than fits on the news section of my home page. Two kinds of posts are likely.
Mathematics. Expository notes, observations from papers I've been reading, instructive examples, write-ups of small results that aren't worth a paper but are worth recording. These will mostly be in or around combinatorics and graph theory, which is what I work on.
Updates. Less frequent: thoughts on conferences, on what I'm currently working on, on the academic profession. The kind of thing that's too long for a news item but doesn't quite warrant a formal essay.
I don't have a posting schedule. New posts will appear when they appear.
If you'd like to discuss anything I write here, please email me directly — the address is on my home page. There are no comments on the site.
